I got bored fairly quickly. The budding noona romance was the only thing holding me here. That and the fact that Song Seung Hun is a beautiful specimen of man flesh. It feels like after sixteen episodes, nothing of true interest happened except for the very pitiful villainess becoming even more pitiful. Our heroine in current time has less backbone than Saimdang which makes her character feel flat while Saimdang of the past has zero chemistry with the very beautiful Lee Gyeom. Every episode, all the chicks are gushing over him and Saimdang is seemingly immune....there is no tension between these two characters at all. I didn't sign up to watch the end of a tragic one-sided love with a guy who's younger and more attractive than his counterpart. I'm not buying it. More could have been done with art history and yet they've wasted all of the potential on a trite, makjang story that's been done a million times before.
Couldn't even make it until the end of the first episode. The fact that everyone treats the male lead as a kid unless he's at work being an asshole, kept me from being able to take him seriously. He just kept coming off as a child throwing a temper tantrum, it's jarring and not well done. Joy's singing voice is incredibly annoying, but only slightly less unfortunate than her acting. My face hurts looking at her trying to smile so hard all the time. The impromptu, high school musical like interruptions in the story are just dumb and if Joy had a better voice, perhaps I could forgive that but....she doesn't. It all feels very juvenile which is sad because I actually think Lee Hyun Woo is a promising actor who is in desperate need of better roles.
For some reason I just can't get into it...it's a shame because I love both leads separately...they've done amazing jobs in their other dramas...the plot seemed to just fall apart and leave me barely paying attention...I rarely check my Facebook and I was on it like crazy by episode 3...hopefully they pull it together...
